Today at the 10.30am Mass we welcome Gabrielle Austin, Ornella Fox, Matthew Frost, Isabella Grozos, Georgia Grozos, Henry Kidd, Siara Ortolani and Christian Robbins and their families, are to be confirmed by Bishop Terry Brady, whom we welcome to St Canice’s once again. Confirmation emphasises an individual’s commitment to Jesus; the Holy Spirit inspires the candidates to become witnesses to their faith.

Healthcare to the rural people of Railaco

The Mobile Clinic program is organized by Fr. Bong SJ who is responsible for the Jesuit Mission in Railaco and also this Mobile Clinic program. In addition to his pastoral duties, he also serves as a doctor for the Mobile Clinic with two of his assistants who are also supported by the St. Canice Parish in Elizabeth Bay, Sydney, Australia.

It is from the heart and compassion of the donors at St Canice’s KingsCross Sydney that make this program possible, the happiness of the children and the communities is a fulfillment for the donors and all of us. The value of the program lies on how people from first world countries like Australia are able to connect their lives through their donation to people in a poor country like Timor.

To start this conversation our North Sydney parish is running a Table Talk with guest speakers including a person seeking protection, as well as a professional who works with people seeking asylum and refugees. St Canice parishioners are most welcome.

One Year On:

Scriptures for Families and Family Visits

Upon this inauguration last year, Railaco immediately began to focus its activities on pastoral and sacramental programs by visiting the families in order to expand the Catholic faith in the families. Besides pastoral and sacramental programs, the Parish also diversified its program to constructing chapels, halls, residences, and other edifices, in order to facilitate pastoral programs and community activities.The Railaco parish priest, Joseph Phuong SJ stresses the importance of the program that is to focus on “Bible for Families”.

I was ordained a priest at Loyola College, Madras, South India in 1982. With the late General Father Pedro Arrupe SJ’s invitation for the “option for the poor”, I did work in remote educational institutions of the province, especially in St. John de Britto School and Shrine, Oriyur, South India for quite some time.
