St Canice’s Kitchen was at the Kings Cross Markets over the weekend on the 8th of September, raising donations for the kitchen and raising awareness for the work we do.
From set up at 7am all the way till pack up at 2pm we communicated with so many people about who we are and what we do. If people weren’t willing to donate they were definitely up for a chat, and were surprised to realise that the Kitchen is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2018!
Here are some photos of our volunteers and the stall on Market day:
As well as just taking donations, the kitchen has some merchandise to sell where the profits go back into the kitchen and the food we buy for the guests. Spoons sell for $10 and aprons sell for $20.
We had amazing feedback from our volunteers and the public about how the day went at the Markets. Many of the public were proud to call us their local charity with one person donating $100 and another buying 3 aprons and 3 spoons.
Thanks to all who helped out on the stall and donated to the cause.
We raised a massive $1591 on the day!
A massive thank you to all that helped out, took a flyer or donated to our cause.
Our next market stall will be at the Double Bay Street Festival on the 4th of November. This is a huge market and will close down the side streets of Double Bay for 320 stalls and thousands of people. Join us in November, either to volunteer or just to visit, we hope to see you there!
