CONFIRMATION AT ST CANICE’S
Sydney’s auxiliary Bishop Terry Brady officiated at the 6pm Vigil Mass at St Canice’s this evening, and confirmed six of our young people.

This man for all ages, Bishop Terry, explained that just as the Holy Spirit came down from Heaven on Mary and the Apostles in the Upper Room, with tongues of fire appearing over their heads giving them the ability to preach the Gospel message of Christ to all people of the world, so too was the Holy Spirit here in the confines of St Canice’s tonight giving our newly confirmed similar responsibilities.
Bishop Terry encouraged the newly confirmed to observe a close relationship with Jesus; coming to Mass and sharing of the bread around the altar table giving all of us those intimate moments to feel closer to Jesus. We should never get trapped into feeling bored at Mass; it is a good idea to find a private place where we can go and just be with Him, no matter how short a time, simply sharing our thoughts and wishes.
He reminded all that visiting the Canice Kitchen where we provide a warm welcome and a meal to so many of the marginalised, we come across Jesus thousands of times. Bishop Terry also mentioned that he often visits the prisons where in the suffering of incarcerated men and women he sees the face of Jesus.
“There’s many an opportunity in our daily lives to find Jesus; there’s no reason to be bored”, he said.
