The Parish Gathering
2nd August from 12 to 3pm In the Church Hall.
“Act as if everything depended on you;
trust as if everything depended on God.”
Ignatius of Loyola
Please come and contribute your imagination, skill and energy to this important day. A special request is made to the young to come (those under 70).
We will start with a reflection at 12pm sharp, then a lunch while reflecting on a display of the parish timeline Please bring a plate to share. Discussion and planning until 3pm.
The format is as follows:
Reflection, followed by lunch and group discussion on St Canice’s timeline as a Jesuit parish, especially recent years. The Jesuit Province is seeking input from its current parishes on how to continue to be involved in a wide range of programs and parishes with fewer Jesuits to lead them.
This will be followed by small group reflection and discussion on the parish’s future according to the four themes of:
Lay leadership in the parish
Our spirituality, faith and liturgy
The parish community and its sustainability
Our outreach ministries
Consolidating and prioritising initiatives.
The desired outcome for the day is that the Pastoral Council and Finance Committee, along with other small groups, will have a clear mandate and your supporting energy to act on the initiatives that come out of this gathering.
